Yoga for Eating Disorder Recovery is designed for anyone aged 16+ who is in active recovery from an eating disorder. It was adapted from our standard seven-week curriculum to be delivered virtually to clients in their homes at a crucial, but also fragile stage of the recovery process. Unlike the Seven-Week Series, we allow clients to participate even if they have engaged in eating disorder behaviors recently. The only qualifying criteria are that they self-identify as in active recovery from an eating disorder.

Yes. We screen rigorously for clients who may be self-harming or suicidal and train facilitators of this curriculum to conduct crisis intervention calls with applicants of concern. This crisis intervention protocol helps to connect clients with qualified medical and mental health providers in their local area and access affordable, effective professional treatment.

No. The curriculum is designed to supplement traditional forms of treatment and teach skills that may aid clients in recovery; it is not a treatment for eating disorders or mental illness of any kind. It’s important to remember that in the midst of a severe mental health crisis, yoga, group discussions, and psychoeducation activities can sometimes be more destabilizing than supportive.
