YOGA FOR EATING DISORDERS FACILITATOR TRAINING

Learn to lead safe, evidence-based yoga programs for people with eating disorders.

Discover a yoga program that has been shown to prevent and help people recover from eating disorders.

As a yoga teacher or mental health professional, you already know the power of yoga to transform lives. Now, you have the opportunity to help others discover their own power by specializing in yoga for eating disorder recovery.

Research has shown that yoga can be a powerful tool in preventing and supporting individuals in their journey towards recovery from eating disorders. However, many yoga teachers and therapists lack the knowledge and experience required to address the unique needs of individuals in the fragile stages of early recovery.

Our training program is designed to bridge this gap. Led by experienced professionals in the field of eating disorders and yoga therapy, this training will provide you with the knowledge, skills, and confidence you need to help your clients recover and ultimately reclaim their lives.

Why Choose Our Training?

Research-Backed Curriculum

We offer the only yoga for eating disorders intervention that has been scientifically validated by three randomized controlled trial, with more studies underway.

Safe for Eating Disorders

Learn to lead a safe and impactful yoga program tailored to support different stages of recovery; from those in inpatient treatment all the way through outpatient care.

Real World Experience

As part of your training, you’ll get to observe live sessions with clients and teach with supervision so you emerge confident and ready to work with this vulnerable population.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the training, you'll be able to:

  • Lead a four-week yoga program for a small group of clients in eating disorder recovery

  • Help your clients use yoga to manage big emotions, connect with their body, and access self-compassion during their recovery

  • Describe and help your clients understand how asana, pranayama, and dhyana can support eating disorder recovery

  • Teach the three embodied tools (grounding, orienting, and resourcing) to help participants cope with difficult emotions, on and off the yoga mat

  • Support anxious and ambivalent clients to find ease, get to know one another, and come away with a meaningful sense of connection with the group

  • Explain the concept of the “monkey mind” and how yoga can help shift thinking patterns that exacerbate and entrench eating disorders

  • Discuss the meaning and importance of self-compassion, and support clients to interrupt self-destructive narratives and behavioral patterns

  • Lead movement and meditation practices that are safe for those in eating disorder recovery and invite participants to integrate the insights they gain in each session into themselves

Testimonials

Becoming a Y4EDR facilitator has been one of the most powerful experiences of my life. The depth of growth & connection has been profound within this past year. A beautiful exploration of truth, honesty, vulnerability & compassion within ourselves, one another as facilitators & within our communities.
This work challenges us daily to walk the talk & reveals the true depth and strength of our resiliency. I feel so deeply honored to do this work and revel in the ripple effect of love, acceptance & connection that it brings.
— LARA SCRIBA
I am so grateful to have found and become a part of the EBT community. Now as an EBT Y4EDR facilitator I am helping to bring incredible scientifically proven programs to those with eating disorders. Not only do I hold space for new people in each course which is exciting but ultimately it is incredibly rewarding to witness the bravery, honesty, and growth of the participants. Finally, I have the best supportive friends within the facilitator network and that makes being an EBT facilitator an honour and an absolute joy.
